A wedding, a boo boo, and a pair of glasses

It has been a crazy week to say the least! Aunt Becky got married on Saturday which meant lots of running around last week getting ready for the big day. I was the MOH, Jason was the officiant, Hannah the flower girl, and Luke the ring bearer. It was a family affair! It was beautiful. Becky looked amazing and everyone was really excited for Becky and Joe. I also think we were excited for it to be over! Seems like we have been doing wedding talk/planning for a very long time. Hannah and Luke were carried down the aisle. Hannah did throw flowers which was the cutest thing I have every seen and everyone laughed and said she was "so cute".

There were two slight incidences. First, Stephanie, another BM, locked her keys in her car after getting her hair done. It was no biggie - we just swapped the guys and gals picture times and everything was fine. Then there was the boo boo. When Jason got there I was already taking pictures so he got the stroller to being them in. There were three steps and since he was alone, he picked the stroller up by the front tray. We have done this dozens of times, but on this occasion the tray decides to pop off and hit Luke in the mouth. All I hear is Luke screaming so I run (from taking pictures) to him and see that he is bleeding, pick him up (yes, I am in my dress, before the wedding), and run inside. Look, my baby was bleeding for the first time ever. I flipped out a little. Anyway, we realize it hit his lip and he is okay and stop the bleeding (all while I am holding him and I am crying). Once things calmed down we realize I had his blood all over the top of my dress. Luckily, mom had shout wipes which completely got the blood out! I will now always carry Shout wipes!

Today we had an eye doctor appointment. Alabama as a program where infants can get a free eye visit in the first year of life so off we go. Luke is fine, but Hannah is apparently very farsighted. More than babies should be (they are all a little far sighed). So we have ordered her some pink gummy glasses. The doctor thinks this is why she isn't crawling. They watched her walk and said she has the coordination and muscle to crawl, she just isn't. Apparently, she won't crawl because she can see what she wants but can't make out the thing between her and the object so she doesn't have confidence to move. This also explains why she doesn't want to be held so close and why she won't let us go when walking even though she has her balance. The dr said she shouldn't have a problem keeping the glasses on because her vision is so bad, she will realize she can see and will keep them on. We will see. I will pick them up on Monday. Maybe now she will crawl before she turns one!

Its been a long time

Again, long time since I posted anything, but please forgive me! School has started and things are just too crazy to explain!

Luke can crawl...and does crawl...everywhere. Not only does he crawl but he pulls up and is now brave enough (and stable enough) to let go with one hand. Today he let go with both and didn't fall for about 4 seconds. Hannah is the complete opposite. For being so active in my tummy, she is now very very content to sit with a book. She is not even trying to crawl. She does watch Luke as he crawls everywhere, so I guess she is thinking about it. They now eat lots of food including Cheerios and Gerber puffs, yogurt melts, and those chicken stick things that look like Vienna sausages. I think they are pretty good. Anyway, here are some pictures from this month.

Getting away from the bottle

Will we ever be off the bottle?!?!? I am so tired of these bottles. REally. H&L do great with sippy cups if they have water or juice but not formula/milk. We are getting a little better. Tonight Luke had about 1/2 of his drink at dinner but Hannah only had maybe an ounce. Help moms! How in the world do I get them off this bottle?

9 month update

So now that we are almost 10 months old (in 7 days) I will give you all a 9 month update! :) Sorry, school started!
Hannah weighed in at 20 pounds 11 ounces and was 29 inches long. Luke was 19 pounds 9 ounces and 31.5 inches long. It cracks me up because they are both just as tall as some of the 2 year olds at church. There is no chance of them being shorties at all!!! I guess it is good I just worry about Hannah being taller than all the boys and not having a date to prom! She is finally out of being in the 90 percentile for weight which made me feel like she will not always be this chunky - even though it is pretty cute, as long as you don't hold her for over a minute! Luke just seems so tall and skinny. He is wanting to walk everywhere. Still no crawling but the kid will pull up and stand for a long time. He wants you to hold his hands and let him walk. I think he will crawl soon and then immediately walk. He is definitely going to be a very active boy! Hannah just rolls and will scoot, but no real looks of crawling yet. I guess once Luke does it she will want to also. We will see.

In other Britton news: We are all settled into the new house. Only one box stayed packed so I guess that was good. Jason and I are going on our first weekend away from the twins next weekend. I am so excited, but Jason really isn't. Fortunately or unfortunately, I have had two work trips since they were born so I am over the shock of being away. Jason isn't. He hasn't left them ever so he is noticeably sad. Such a good daddy! Hopefully we will have some fun and he won't be too upset all weekend! Here are some pics from the 9 month sessions.

Chunky monkey

Two pictures from this morning just to show the difference in Luke and his "little" sister. In both pictures they are in 9 month clothes from the same brand. Really, I swear she does not eat more than he does. Plus she is tall! So she is fat and tall - what a combo!

Raise them right!

The indoctrination begins early at our house!

The beach

Well, we went. We saw. We survived! It was fun but Jason and I both agreed that we don't feel like it was a vacation - it was just lugging babies around in a different city. They did like the water, but not so much the sand. Plus I didn't like the sand. All those rolls and sand don't mix! Over all it was fun. They sat wonderfully in high chairs each night at dinner so now they are going out pros! We also used a service called Baby Beach Rentals for two pack-n-plays so we wouldn't have to pack them. It was worth every penny! Leslie, the owner, was really nice too. Here are a few pics of us at the beach. The first is our car. Please notice the amount of baby items and our one suitcase!
